April 26, 2026 Fourth Sunday of Easter Announcements Invocation Scripture: Acts 2:42-47 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 Awe came upon everyone because many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 All who believed were together and had all things in common; 45 they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 Day by day

A Note from Pastor Ryan One of the readings for today is from Psalm 119:33- 40. In this Psalm, the writer cries out to God for instruction. He wants to know God's way, God's decrees, Gods law. In a round about way, it is asking for wisdom. We live in an age where people seem to want to be right rather than taught. Learning is not always an easy thing, it changes and challenges us. But this Psalmist has the correct desire, we should long for God's precepts, but do we? Do you

A Note from Pastor Ryan One of the Psalms for today in the Book of Common Prayer is Psalm 12. It starts by saying "Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race." As I read those words, I thought what a common complaint. Today we make this common lament as well, people aren't as faithful as they once were. This type of lament can lead to despair. We can wonder how God could accomplish anything with such faithless and disloy

A Note from Pastor Ryan My friend Jason Byasse wrote "The Psalms are a rich feast" in the introduction to his commentary on Psalms 101-150. In my mind a rich feast includes a variety of foods so there is something for everyone- though not everyone will enjoy every dish. Perhaps you've discovered that a meaningful psalm to someone else doesn't carry the same weight to you. This Eastertide we'll be going through the Psalms on Sunday mornings. But I would also encourage you, if

Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from

Morning by morning he wakens, wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught. 5 The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I did not turn backward. 6 I gave my back to those who struck me and my cheeks to those who pulled out the beard; I did not hide my face from insult an

A Note from Pastor Ryan The last core desire that we spoke about was the desire for significance. Everyone wants their life to matter. The scriptures teach us that God loves us, God values us. God knows the hairs on our heads. Jesus died for us. Clearly we matter to God, but often that isn’t enough for us. We decide that we our true identity is found in what we do. In fact, many think “I am what I do, I am what I achieve.” When we think this way we may become riddled with anx

A Note from Pastor Ryan Winter won't go away. I'm tired of it being cold. I'm tired of the snow. I'm tired of being indoors. I'm tired of other people staying indoors. I'm tired of the howling winds and the storms. I'm guessing many of you may feel the same. Perhaps they are the storms of kids getting sick, parents getting sick, family members being in pain. Maybe they are storms of tight finances or even a lack of satisfaction with life. Maybe they are storms of anger, depre

A Note from Pastor Ryan This past Sunday I spoke about our desire to belong. We all want to be seen, known, loved, and esteemed. We find satisfaction in being known and loved. All too often, we seek fulfilmment in relationships only to find that they don't satisfy. We should find our identity, our sense of belonging in God. In our baptisms we get claimed as God's children. That is who we are! This is part of what Jesus meant in drinking water which comes from him. Jesus satis

They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink. 2 The people quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.” Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?” 3 But the people thirsted there for water, and t

A Note from Pastor Ryan On Sunday, Pastor John talked about how Abraham was called to be a blessing to the world. We too can be a blessing to others, BUT actually being a blessing means that we don’t keep a score, we don’t begrudge being a blessing. When we are actually a blessing towards others, it blesses us as well. In order for us to move towards that, we must be aware of our desire for security. This is a good desire, but like all good desires, it can be used against us.

A Note from Pastor Ryan If you're doing the reading the Bible in a year plan, then you've likely read about the restitution expected from certain sins or mistakes in Exodus 22. It made me think of that wee little man Zaccheus who paid restitution upon meeting Jesus. Jesus told him that salvation had come to his house. Restitution is not something with which contemporary Christians are often comfortable. People tend to think, "Jesus died for my sins, why should I do anythin
