Invocation

Scripture: Psalm 86:11-17

11 Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart to revere your name.12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.13 For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

14 O God, the insolent rise up against me; a band of ruffians seeks my life, and they do not set you before them.15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.16 Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant; save the child of your maidservant.17 Show me a sign of your favor, so that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame, because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

“My Hope is Built on Nothing Less”

Hymn #436

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus’ blood

and righteousness.

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

But wholly lean

on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock,

I stand;

All other ground is sinking sand.

All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide

His face,

I rest on His unchanging grace.

In ev-’ry high and stormy gale,

My anchor holds within the veil.

On Christ, the solid Rock,

I stand;

All other ground is sinking sand.

All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant,

His blood,

Support me in the whelming flood.

When all around my soul gives way,

He then is all my Hope and Stay.

On Christ, the solid Rock,

I stand;

All other ground is sinking sand.

All other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with

trumpet sound,

O may I then in Him be found!

Dressed in His righteousness alone,

Faultless to stand

before the throne!

On Christ, the solid Rock,

I stand;

All other ground is sinking sand.

All other ground is sinking sand.

“Standing on the Promises“

Hymn #687

Standing on the promises

of Christ, my King!

Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring.

“Glory in the highest!”

I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,

Standing on the promises of God,

my Savior;

Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises

that cannot fail!

When the howling storms of doubt

and fear assail,

By the living Word of God

I shall prevail,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,

Standing on the promises of God,

my Savior;

Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises,

I now can see

Perfect, present cleansing

in the blood for me;

Standing in the liberty

where Christ makes free,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,

Standing on the promises of God,

my Savior;

Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises

of Christ, the Lord,

Bound to Him eternally

by love’s strong cord,

Overcoming daily with the

Spirit’s Sword,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,

Standing on the promises of God,

my Savior;

Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises,

I cannot fall,

Lis-t’ning ev-’ry moment

to the Spirit’s call,

Resting in my Savior

as my All in All,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,

Standing on the promises of God,

my Savior;

Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

“We are Standing on Holy Ground”

Hymn #114

We are standing on holy ground,

And I know that there are angels

all around

Let us praise Jesus now.

We are standing in His presence

on holy ground.

Scripture: Romans 8:12-25

12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are obligated, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh— 13 for if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if we in fact suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

18 I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God, 20 for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its enslavement to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning together as it suffers together the pains of labor, 23 and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope, for who hopes for what one already sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Invitation

Confession

Pardon

Peace

Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him,

who earnestly repent of their sin   and seek to live in peace with one another.Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.

Merciful God, We confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church.

We have not done your will, we have broken your law,

we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy.

Hear the good news,

Christ died for us while we were still sinners,

which proves God’s love for us. In the name of Jesus Christ, You Are forgiven

In the name of Jesus Christ, You Are forgiven

Glory to God, Amen.

Pastoral Prayer

Scripture: Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43

24 He put before them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to someone who sowed good seed in his field, 25 but while everybody was asleep an enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and then went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared as well. 27 And the slaves of the householder came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where, then, did these weeds come from?’ 28 He answered, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The slaves said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ 29 But he replied, ‘No, for in gathering the weeds you would uproot the wheat along with them. 30 Let both of them grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Collect the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’ ”

36 Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples approached him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.” 37 He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man; 38 the field is the world, and the good seed are the children of the kingdom; the weeds are the children of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. 40 Just as the weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers, 42 and they will throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let anyone with ears listen!

Scripture: Genesis 28:10-19a

10 Jacob left Beer-sheba and went toward Haran. 11 He came to a certain place and stayed there for the night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place. 12 And he dreamed that there was a stairway set up on the earth, the top of it reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 And the Lord stood beside him and said, “I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring, 14 and your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and all the families of the earth shall be blessed in you and in your offspring. 15 Know that I am with you and will keep you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” 16 Then Jacob woke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place—and I did not know it!” 17 And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

18 So Jacob rose early in the morning, and he took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it. 19 He called that place Bethel,

Message: Pastor Ryan

Communion

The Communion Supper, instituted by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is a sacrament, which proclaims His life, His sufferings, His sacrificial death and resurrection, and the hope of His coming again. Brothers and sisters in Christ,the Christian life is redeemed from sin and consecrated to God.The Supper is a means of grace in which Christ is present by the Spirit.

It is to be received in reverent appreciation and gratefulness for the work of Christ. All those who are truly repentant, forsaking their sins, and believing in Christ for salvation are invited to participate in the death and resurrection of Christ. We come to the table that we may be renewed in life and salvation and be made one by the Spirit.

In unity with the Church, we confess our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Holy God, We gather at this, your table, in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, who by your Spirit was anointed to preach good news to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, set at liberty those who are oppressed.

2-17 Christ healed the sick, fed the hungry, ate with sinners, and established the new covenant for forgiveness of sins. We live in the hope of His coming again.

On the night in which He was betrayed, He took bread, gave thanks, broke the bread, gave it to His disciples, and said: “Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.

Likewise, when the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks, gave it to His disciples, and said: “Drink from this, all of you, this is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in remembrance of me.” Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

And so, we gather as the Body of Christ to offer ourselves to you in praise and thanksgiving. Pour out your Holy Spirit on us and on these your gifts. Make them by the power of your Spirit to be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the Body of Christ, redeemed by His blood.

By your Spirit make us one in Christ, one with each other, and one in the ministry of Christ to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen. And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, let us pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen

Benediction
