September is fast upon us. I wanted to remind everyone that this Sunday we start a new Memory verse: Genesis 3:4-5. I chose this verse because one of the greatest temptations we face is that our idols won't lead to death. The snake tempted Eve by telling her that she could be like God. In that she was inverting the role of creature and creator. She thought she could tell God who God should be and still live life fully alive. Abundant life comes when we get the order correct. We are the creatures. We serve God because only God has the words (and keys to life). Let us not reject God's order and so doing become fully alive.
Men's Ministry For a few years now we have not had a men's ministry director. This week the Holy Spirit really pressed upon me that it is time to do something about it. Also, the men's ministry is hosting a Fantasy Football League. If you have never played, thats fine. Most of the guys haven't. Jesse and Mark are going to be our commissioners. The Draft is Sept. 2 at 9pm. If you want to sign up, contact Jesse, Mark, or Pastor.
Starting Sept 29 at 4pm we'll have an all ages kickball league. This is for anyone who wants to attend. Maybe you don't want to play, but just want an excuse to socialize. Join us on Sunday afternoons for a few hours of fun. We'll have games on Oct. 6, Oct 20, and Oct 27 (weather permitting)
Sept 15 is the National Back to Church Sunday. It would be great if everyone who calls this church their home was here on the SAME SUNDAY. Join us for worship, then stick around for the Annual Picnic! This is a great Sunday to invite friends to join us for worship. You won't want to miss it!
