Having the Mind of Christ

If you read last week's email, then you know I asked everyone to read through Philippians. It is an excellent book. This week I have been contemplating chapter 2, what incredible instructions. What would it mean for the world if Christians everywhere perfectly followed Paul instructions in this chapter? He says, " make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Let us explore those words together this week.

Here are some other key dates. Sept 27th- Spaghetti Dinner The Teens will be hosting their spaghetti dinner to raise funds for their hopeful summer 2024 mission trip. Oct. 1 Missional Community Informational Meeting -

We'll be launching a new Missional Community Sundays at 4:00pm at Emmy and Ryan's house. This will be a time when we encounter God, focus on formation, and step out in mission. The first area of focus will be on Emotional Health. To learn about the material, see this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39rWOgf8JBM

Oct. 7th- Trick or Treat Trail

Each year we have an opportunity to meet our neighbors, invite them to church, and invite them to walking deeper with Jesus. If you would like to join Pastor Ryan and other leaders at our booth, speak to him before the 7th. Oct. 14th Pancake Breakfast The Teens will host another breakfast at 9:00. Come enjoy supporting our incredible youth group!

Oct 21. GAME NIGHT We had a bit of a mix up in scheduling, but we got that figured out. We'll have an all church game night. Bring your Skip-Bo, Settlers of Catan, or CandyLand for a time of fellowship and fun.

Oct. 31- Harvest Festival and indoor Trick or Treating Each year we host 200-400 people at the church for our Harvest Festival. We've found that the largest crowds come on Halloween. If you would like to help speak with Emmy. Nov. 1 All Saints Service 7:00pm Because of the Harvest Festival- we are cancelling most Wednesday Night activities and we are hosting an inter generational All Saints Service. In previous years we've held an all saints part of the service, but this year we will have the memorial service in the Sanctuary on All Saints Day. Thanksgiving at the Church

This may seem a long way off, but I wanted people to know about it early. Each year Emmy and I feel a burden for people for whom Thanksgiving becomes a lonely day. This year we've decided to try and remedy that by having a Church Family Gathering at the church. This is not intended to be a burden to anyone, and we don't want anyone to feel guilty about doing their family Thanksgiving. Please celebrate with your families! If, however, you want to spend the day at the church, we're going to set up board games in the cafe, the projector in the gym for people to watch football games, we'll have the traditional turkey, and perhaps a semi-traditional lasagna. It should simply be a relaxing day of being a family feasting together offering Thanksgiving to God. If this sounds like a day you would enjoy, contact Pastor or Emmy.
