The Pantocrator

This August our focus will be in the book of Colossians. This is a great letter of encouragement written by Paul to the church in Colossae. It is a celebration of Christ for in this letter we see some of the best explanation for who Jesus is. Paul has an incredible high view of Jesus and reveals how Jesus as God in Flesh makes all the difference for our human existence. The subtitle "Finding the Pantocrator in Colossians" speaks to this. Pantocrator is based in greek and it means "Creator of All." It also signals a certain type of icons which envision Jesus as the creator, as powerful, as God over all. In an age when we want Jesus as our BFF or Homeboy, the pantocrator reminds us of Jesus' majesty. As we grow together in this series, I pray we would come to love our Savior more than before.
