Church Update

July 2, 2020

Dear Church Family,

I am writing you concerning where we are at as a church board and the reopening of the church building. We have had meetings trying to map out the phases of reopening and what will lead to the next phase. A special meeting was held, Wednesday, July 1st to discuss the reopening of the building on July 5th.

The initial opening of indoor services was previously voted on and was unanimously passed that the number of COVID 19 cases would remain under 200 in order to start services in the sanctuary, moving to 2 services to be able to keep social distancing. With the survey that Pastor Ryan took concerning services, he was given mixed answers, including write-ins. Some were ready to have services indoors, and with that he proposed a plan to the board so that all could make their own decision. This plan was to have an outdoor service at 9:00 a.m. before it gets too hot, and an indoor service at 11:00 a.m. This would also include Bill’s Sunday School class to meet in the preschool area of the children’s department and Will’s Sunday School class to meet in the fellowship hall at 10:00 a.m.

There was much discussion on what would be the best plan for the safety of our church family. The proposal of outdoor service at 9:00 and indoor service at 11:00 was voted on and passed with a split decision, 1 opposing wanting to remain with the outdoor services only. With this decision there are guidelines that must be followed: A mask must be worn indoors. If bathrooms are used, sanitation wipes will be available to sanitize the faucets, door handles of the stalls and exit/entrance doors, and hand sanitizer stations will be available as well.

This decision was made with much consideration and love for all in our church family. We pray that this decision will keep our family happy and safe.

In Christ’s love,

Michelle Oke

Church Board Secretary
