Invocation

Scripture: Genesis 45:1-15

1 Then Joseph could no longer control himself before all those who stood by him, and he cried out, "Send everyone away from me." So no one stayed with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers.

2 And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard it, and the household of Pharaoh heard it.

3 Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?" But his brothers could not answer him, so dismayed were they at his presence.

4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, "Come closer to me." And they came closer. He said, "I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.

5 And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.

6 For the famine has been in the land these two years; and there are five more years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest.

7 God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors.

8 So it was not you who sent me here, but God; he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

9 Hurry and go up to my father and say to him, "Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not delay.

10 You shall settle in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children's children, as well as your flocks, your herds, and all that you have.

11 I will provide for you there—since there are five more years of famine to come—so that you and your household, and all that you have, will not come to poverty.'

12 And now your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see that it is my own mouth that speaks to you.

13 You must tell my father how greatly I am honored in Egypt, and all that you have seen. Hurry and bring my father down here."

14 Then he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck and wept, while Benjamin wept upon his neck.

15 And he kissed all his brothers and wept upon them; and after that his brothers talked with him.

“He Ransomed Me

Hymn #353

1 There’s a sweet and blessed story Of the Christ who came from glory Just to rescue me from sin and misery; He in loving-kindness sought me And from sin and shame hath brought me - Hallelujah! Jesus ransomed me.

Chorus: Hallelujah! what a Savior Who can take a poor, lost sinner, Lift him from the miry clay and set him free! I will ever tell the story, Shouting, "Glory, glory, glory!" Hallelujah! Jesus ransomed me.

2 From the depth of sin and sadness To the heights of joy and gladness Jesus lifted me in mercy full and free; With His precious blood He bought me, When I knew Him not He sought me, And in love divine He ransomed me.

Hallelujah! what a Savior Who can take a poor, lost sinner, Lift him from the miry clay and set him free! I will ever tell the story, Shouting, "Glory, glory, glory!" Hallelujah! Jesus ransomed me.

3 From the throne of heav’nly glory— Oh, the sweet and blessed story!— Jesus came to lift the lost in sin and woe Into liberty all-glorious, Trophies of His grace victorious, Evermore rejoicing here below.

Hallelujah! what a Savior Who can take a poor, lost sinner, Lift him from the miry clay and set him free! I will ever tell the story, Shouting, "Glory, glory, glory!" Hallelujah! Jesus ransomed me.

4 By and by with joy increasing And with gratitude unceasing, Lifted up with Christ forever more to be, I will join the hosts there singing, In the anthem ever ringing, To the King of Love who ransomed me.

Hallelujah! what a Savior Who can take a poor, lost sinner, Lift him from the miry clay and set him free! I will ever tell the story, Shouting, "Glory, glory, glory!" Hallelujah! Jesus ransomed me.

“All Because of God’s Amazing Grace”

Hymn #354

Amazing grace-

O how sweet the sound

That saved a poor sinner like me!

Tho’ once I was lost,

Yet now I’m found;

Tho’ I was blinded, now I see!

And it’s all because of God’s

amazing grace!

Because on Calv’ry’s mountain

He took my place!

And some day, some glorious morning,

I shall see Him face to face,

All because of God’s amazing grace!

Thro’ disappointment

and danger, too,

Thro’ labors and sorrows

we’ve come!

But God’s grace has guided

safely thro’,

And it will surely lead us home!

And it’s all because of God’s

amazing grace!

Because on Calv’ry’s mountain

He took my place!

And some day, some glorious morning,

I shall see Him face to face,

All because of God’s amazing grace!

Then with the ransomed

Around God’s throne,

We’ll praise our Redeemer and King!

We’ll tell how His mercy

for sin did atone;

Thro’ countless ages

this song we’ll sing:

It was all because of God’s

amazing grace!

Because on Calv’ry’s mountain

He took my place!

And some day, some glorious morning,

I shall see Him face to face,

All because of God’s amazing grace!

Scripture: Psalm 67

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, (Selah)

2 that your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations.

3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you.

4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. (Selah)

5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you.

6 The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us.

7 May God continue to bless us; let all the ends of the earth revere him

Pastoral Prayer-Joys & Concerns

Scripture: Matthew 15:20-28

20 These are what defile a person, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile."

21 Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon.

22 Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon."

23 But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, "Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us."

24 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me."

26 He answered, "It is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs."

27 She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table."

28 Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed instantly.

“How Deep the Father’s Love for us”

How deep the Father's love for us? How vast beyond all measure? That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure How great the pain of searing loss? The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the Chosen One Bring many sons to glory Behold the man upon a cross My sin upon His shoulders Ashamed I hear my mocking voice Call out among the scoffers It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life I know that it is finished I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart His wounds have paid my ransom

Scripture: Romans 11:1-2a, 25-36

1 I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.

2 God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?

25 So that you may not claim to be wiser than you are, brothers and sisters, I want you to understand this mystery: a hardening has come upon part of Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.

26 And so all Israel will be saved; as it is written, "Out of Zion will come the Deliverer; he will banish ungodliness from Jacob."

27 "And this is my covenant with them, when I take away their sins."

28 As regards the gospel they are enemies of God for your sake; but as regards election they are beloved, for the sake of their ancestors;

29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

30 Just as you were once disobedient to God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience,

31 so they have now been disobedient in order that, by the mercy shown to you, they too may now receive mercy.

32 For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all.

33 O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

34 "For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"

35 "Or who has given a gift to him, to receive a gift in return?"

36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.

“Victory in Jesus”

Hymn #352

I heard an old, old story,

How a Savior came from glory,

How He gave His life on Calvary

To save a wretch like me.

I heard about His groaning,

Of His precious blood’s atoning.

Then I repented of my sins

And won the victory.

O victory in Jesus, My Savior forever!

He sought me and bought me

With His redeeming blood.

He loved me ere I knew Him,

And all my love is due Him.

He plunged me to victory

Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing,

of His cleansing pow’r revealing,

How He made the lame

to walk again

And caused the blind to see.

And then I cried, “Dear Jesus,

Come and heal my broken spirit”;

And somehow Jesus

Came and brought

To me the victory.

O victory in Jesus, My Savior forever!

He sought me and bought me

With His redeeming blood.

He loved me ere I knew Him,

And all my love is due Him.

He plunged me to victory

Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion

He has built for me in glory,

And I heard about

The streets of gold

Beyond the crystal sea,

About the angels singing,

And the old redemption story;

And some sweet day

I’ll sing up there

The song of victory.

O victory in Jesus, My Savior forever!

He sought me and bought me

With His redeeming blood.

He loved me ere I knew Him,

And all my love is due Him.

He plunged me to victory

Beneath the cleansing flood.

Benediction
