2nd Sunday of Easter

Clyde Park Church of the Nazarene Morning Worship Service April 19, 2020 Scripture: Psalm 16 1. Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge. 2. say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” 3. As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble, in whom is all my delight. 4. Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names upon my lips. 5. The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage. 7. I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. 8. I keep the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9. Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also rests secure. 10. For you do not give me up to Sheol, or let your faithful one see the Pit. 11. You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore. “He Lives” Verse 1: I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today I know that He is living, whatever men may say I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer And just the time I need Him He's always near Chorus: He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Christ Jesus lives today He walks with me and talks with me Along life's narrow way He lives (He lives), He lives (He lives), Salvation to impart You ask me how I know He lives? Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4. and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5. who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6. In this you rejoice, even if now for a little while you have had to suffer various trials, 7. so that the genuineness of your faith—being more precious than gold that, though perishable, is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8. Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy, 9. for you are receiving the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. “Living Hope” How great the chasm that lay between us How high the mountain I could not climb In desperation, I turned to heaven And spoke Your name into the night Then through the darkness, Your loving-kindness Tore through the shadows of my soul The work is finished, the end is written Jesus Christ, my living hope Who could imagine so great a mercy? He stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I do choose. Be made clean!” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” 5. When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, appealing to him 6. and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible distress.” 7. And he said to him, “I will come and cure him.” 8. The centurion answered, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant will be healed. 9. For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and the slave does it.” 10. When Jesus heard him, he was amazed and said to those who followed him, “Truly I tell you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. 11. I tell you, many will come from east and west and will eat with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, 12. while the heirs of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 13. And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you according to your faith.” And the servant was healed in that hour. 14. When Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever; 15. he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve him. 16. That evening they brought to him many who were possessed with demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and cured all who were sick. 17. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.” 18. Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. 19. A scribe then approached and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” 20. And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 21. Another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 22. But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” Message by Pastor Ryan
